Dave Chang was born on August 5, 1977, in Vienna, Virginia to Korean parents. His parents, Joe Chang and Sherri Chang, emigrated to the USA as adults in the 1960s. Chang has three siblings; two elder brothers and a sister.
Growing up, Chang picked up golf and has also participated in a number of junior tournaments. He has attended Georgetown Prep and completed hus graduation from the Trinity College in Washington. Following his graduation, he started his career as a teacher and a finance assistant in New York City and eventually started his cooking career.
