A Maryland woman named Marisa Harris has died in Virginia after a 12-year-old young boy threw himself off an overpass and landed on her car on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old Olney native Harris was driving under the Cedar Lane overpass on Interstate 66 when the boy, whose identity has not been revealed yet, landed on her Ford Escape.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders while the boy, extraordinarily, survived, according to NBC Washington report.

According to local authorities, the crash occurred at 4.18pm near Exit 62 in Fairfax County while Harris was driving Eastbound.

It's not yet clear what compelled the young boy to suicide, making the 30-foot drop. Police are not naming the boy as he is too young, but as reported by WTOP, he was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
