Venetia Stevenson was born on March 10, 1938, in London, United Kingdom, to parents Robert Stevenson and Anna Lee.
Her father was a director and writer while her mother was an actress. She has five siblings, four brothers Jeffrey Byron, Hugh Howard Stevenson, Steve Stafford, John Stafford Anna Lee, and a sister Caroline Stevenson.
Her parents got a divorce in 1944 and after the split, Venetia stayed with her dad and stepmom and her half brother, Jeffrey Byron.

Venetia Stevenson made her theatrical debut with her mom in Liliom, a play of the Sombrero Theater, in Phoenix, Arizona, in April 1955.
She made her television debut with the 1954 television series, Cavalcade of America, and later in 1957, she played the role of Amy Spettigue in Playhouse 90. alongside Jackie Coogan, Tom Tryon, and Jeanette MacDonald.
Venetia has appeared in a total of 22 movies and tv shows throughout her acting career. She had last appeared as Sgt. Judy Fraser in the 1961 comedy film, The Sergeant Was a Lady.

Venetia Stevenson is a twice married and twice divorced woman. She was first married an MGM actor-dancer, Russ Tamblyn, on Valentine's Day, 1956.
She was 17 years old when she exchanged vows with her first husband Russ in the Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes but they got a divorce just one year later in April 1957. Despite the split, the two remained friends.
Later in 1962, the actress married her second husband Don Everly and retired from acting. The pair got a divorce in 1970. The former couple had a son, Edan Everly, and two daughters, Stacy Everly and Erin Everly.
She also had a one-year long affair with her Seven Ways from Sundown co-star actor Audie Murphy in 1960.
