Police arrived at an apartment building in Phoenix, Arizona, after reports of gunfire in the building to find Ms. Ross’ body outside. They found the children’s bodies inside the apartment.
The officers then approached their father, who had barricaded himself inside their apartment, and tried to talk with him. However, Mr. Ross began shooting at officers shortly thereafter but was taken into custody.
One officer was injured by shrapnel during the incident.

Mr. Ross came into prominence after advocating a plant-based diet. He reportedly lost 100 kilograms after changing his dietary pattern and avoiding meat and dairy products. He is now a popular vegan cook and motivational speaker. Hours before the shooting, on Christmas Day, he had posted a video while singing “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” with his son.
Officers with knowledge of the incident said that they were investigating it as a domestic violence incident.
Mr. Ross is due to attend court on the third of January.
