An unlicensed Bronx man, namely Jorje Beato, drove his father's car in the wrong way inside the Queens-Midtown Tunnel in New York City and crashed into an Uber driver last month, authorities confirmed on Wednesday, May 8.

The 18-year-old boy, who was driving a black Jeep Patriot with only a learner’s permit, was reportedly high on cocaine and marijuana.

He smashed through a barrier and entered the wrong side of the tunnel at approx. 1:30 a.m. on April 28.

Jorje was driving at the speed of 60 mph when he crashed into the white Toyota Highlander car of Zafar Iqbal about a half mile into the tube.

He then ran from the wreckage and pointed a gun at an approaching police officer. The officer arrested the suspect after he realized that Jorje was holding only a cellphone.

He was charged with reckless driving, marijuana possession, drug possession, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries.

The Uber driver and his passenger were rushed to a hospital with neck and back injuries. They were treated and are since being released.

Zafar, 37, who is a father of two said,

I don‘t know how this guy got into the tunnel. They need more protection for that. It’s very dangerous, it’s a nightmare for me.
