At least eight people were killed and more than a dozen are injured as a man opened fire on a crowd in Lower Manhattan, New York City on Tuesday, October 31, multiple sources confirmed.

Six people were declared dead on the spot and according to the NYPD, two more were brought to the hospital and lost their lives there. The others injured people have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, The NYPD confirmed in the press conference that the shooting was an act of terror, adding;

An NYPD officer was on post near location and stopped the carnage moments after it began.

In an agreement, the New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said;

This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror.

During the press conference, the NYPD confirmed that the 29-year-old shooter sped south down a bike path in a Home Depot truck before carrying out the lethal attack. It further said that as a result of the crash, two adults and two children were injured.

Directly after the crash, the shooter got out of the truck along with two handguns, a repellent gun, and a paintball. A police offer confronted him and shot him in the abdomen before he was transported to a hospital.

He is still alive and under the investigation by police.
