The Rolling Stones co-founder Sir Mick Jagger is expecting a child at the age of 72 and is set to be a dad for the 8th time, after Mick's girlfriend Melanie Hamrick got pregnant with his child - His first with her.

A spokesman confirmed that the singer's girlfriend, 29-year-old American ballerina Melanie Hamrick, is pregnant. Just last year, Mick, who already has 7 children with their age ranging from 17-45, became a great-grandfather in May 2014 when his granddaughter Assisi gave birth to a baby girl.

A source close to Hamrick told: “This is great news. It will be Mick’s eighth child and nothing fazes him. He’s been incredibly supportive. She’s very bright, intelligent, sparky and has her own ideas about how she wants to lead her life. She knows what a great relationship Mick has with all of his children and can’t wait for him to be a dad again. They are taking the news in their stride.”

When Mick Jagger's Rolling Stones began to take the world by storm in 1962, Melanie Hamrick wasn't even born - in fact she wasn't born for another 25 years.

The 72-year-old has a son, Karis Hunt Jagger, 45, from his relationship with Marsha Hunt, and a daughter Jade, now 44, with his ex-wife Bianca. He had four children with his ex-partner Jerry Hall – Elizabeth, 32, James, 30, Georgia, 24, and Gabriel 19. He also had a son, Lucas, 17, following a brief relationship with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez. The liaison ended Sir Mick’s 22-year relationship with Jerry, who is now married to media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

The Rolling Stones are set to release a new, blues-inspired album this year.
