Teresa Mary Palmer began her acting career when she won a local casting audition, Search for a Movie Star and her first job was dressing up as Strawberry Shortcake, an elf assistant to mall Santa Clauses on weekends for the promotion in shopping centers near Adelaide. 

Then she joined acting classes and worked in a few television commercials and she was a fast-food attendant at Hungry Jack’s in Rundle Mall.

After that, she appeared in Deck Dogz and other film shot in her native town, Adelaide. After a year she created her own film production company Avakea Production, a joint venture of Australian actress Nathalie Kelly and Tahyna Tozzi and Palmer herself.

Then in 2011, she performed in the sci-fi adventure film I Am Number Four along with Dianna Argon and Alex Pettyfer. She appeared in the role of Number Six, one of the nine aliens hiding out on Earth after their planet destroyed.
