He was raised in upper middle class family. He was an American and was of Irish and American descent.

1950

Graduated from Milton Academy prep school

Ted was raised in several places of United States as a result he attended ten different schools when he was just 11. When he was in his 6th grade he got enrolled at Fessenden School. He also attended Cranwell Preparatory School for several years. Later he got enrolled at Milton Academy prep school and finally graduated from there in 1950.

Was expelled from Harvard College

He was not good at his studies like his brothers but he was better in football. After his high school graduation, he joined Harvard College. He was an avid athlete there; however in 1951 he was expelled for cheating.

Joined United States Army

After he was expelled from Harvard College, he joined United States Army in 1951. He joined them in a four year term but his father shortened his contract. Next year, he served as an honor guard at SHAPE headquarters in Paris.
