Suspect, Who Plowed Car into Crowd, Injured 8 People, Was an Army Vet

The suspected driver, who allegedly plowed a car into a crown injuring eight people, has been revealed as an army vet, Isaiah Joel Peoples, California authorities confirmed on Wednesday, April 24.

The California native was identified by the DPS (Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety). Isaiah was set to appear in court on Friday, April 26. He could face eight counts of attempted murder.

Isaiah drove his vehicle into the crowd at approx. 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, while heading west on El Camino Real towards Mountain View city.

The suspect was arrested and booked into jail "for 8 counts of attempted murder."

According to the authorities, Isaiah, 34, was a former U.S. Army sharpshooter who served in Iraq in 2005 and 2006.

His mother told media that her son was working as a Defense Department auditor in Mountain View following his graduation from Sacramento State University, 

Isaiah retired from the Army after being diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
