In a promotional event of The New King of Comedy in China, Stephen Chow informed his fans that there will surely be a Kung Fu Hustle 2.

A short video with Stephen confirming the movie was uploaded by his fan on Weibo, which went instantly viral.

Back in 2018, there were rumors of the sequel but Chow hadn't confirmed anything.

The previous movie was a huge hit worldwide and had earned $100 million against the $20 million budget.

In the movie, Stephen played the lead character of a low life looser of the 1930s, whose dream is to join the notorious Axe Gang.

However, this time Chow won't be playing the lead anymore and would make a brief cameo appearance in the movie.

This time the movie is suspected to be centered around a female character, following a spiritual pursuit in the present day world.
