Stellan Skarsgard

Stellan John Skarsgard is a Swedish actor born on 13 June 1951 to Gudrun Larsson and Jan Skarsgard in Gothenburg, Sweden. In his childhood the family often moved to places amongst Helsingborg, Totebo, Kalmar, Marielund, and Uppsala.

Skarsgard Career

Stellan started his career at an early age of 21, he first experienced filming, and television, as well as stage, were considerable. His starting roles were in Swedish Television and films.

1997

His Hit Movies

In 1997, Stellan plays in a Norwegian film Insomnia, and he plays the guilt – ridden policeman, Jonas Engstrom. Later moved in for American films and his first was Noon Wine directed by Michael Fields in 1985. In 1990 he appeared in another American movie, The Hunt of Red October, as the character of Captain Tupolev, a Soviet submarine commander.

Skarsgard was considered for the role of Oskar Schindler in Schindler’s List. Skarsgard played Dr. Erik Selvig in Marvel’s film Thor in 2011 and replayed the role in sequel Thor: The Dark World, in 2013. In 2012, Stellan played a role in The Avengers and again in the 2015 sequel The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Stellan started his career at an early age of 21 with Swedish Television and films. Stellan is recognized best, for his portrayal of Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who worked to save the Holocaust victims.

Stellan in his starting days was in good terms with director Lars von Trier and has appeared in six Danish auteur’s features like The Kingdom, Breaking the Waves, Dancer in the Dark, Dogville, Melancholia and Nymphomaniac. His has a strong working relationship is with Norwegian director Hans Petter Moland, who directed Kjaerlighetens Kjotere, Aberdeen, In Order of Disappearance and A Somewhat Gentle Man.

Since Skarsgard and Peter Stormare were best friends, Stormare later became the godfather of his son from first marriage – Gustaf. Stellan currently has a staggering net worth of $40 million.
