Stan Dragoti, the directed of the popular comedy movies Love at First Bite and Mr. Mom and the first husband of fashion model Cheryl Tiegs, has died at the age of 85.
As for the cause of death, his wife Yolanda Dragoti told The Hollywood Reporter that Stan died after complications from pneumonia on Friday, July 13 at an assisted living facility in Los Angeles.
The late filmmaker had been battling health issues since he underwent open-heart surgery four years ago.
According to Yolanda, in addition to rewatching his films like “Mr. Mom” and “Love at First Bite,” he loved watching Necessary Roughness "because he loved football".
She said, "He got me hooked on Turner Classic Movies, we would watch black and white movies all night long. He was such a history buff, a film buff. I learned so much from him".
Besides working on the movies we mentioned earlier, Stan also directed 1985 film The Man With One Red Shoe starring Tom Hanks; 1989's She's Out of Control, with Catherine Hicks and Tony Danza; and 1991's Necessary Roughness starring Scott Bakula.
Born on 4 October 1932 in Manhattan, Stan was the son of Albanian immigrants.
He was married to supermodel Tiegs from 1970 and 1979 before they got a divorce. He is survived by Yolanda, with whom he had been together with for 30 years and married in 2014.
