The Game of Thrones star, 23, spoke out about the rocky period during an interview with UK’s Sunday Times.
Noting her relationship with the Jonas Brothers singer, 29, when they first met in 2016, she told the publication, "I was going through this phase of being very mentally unwell."
He was like, ‘I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.'
The actress, who has been never shy to open up about her struggles with her mental health, then recalled, "That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way."
It was the worst day of our lives,” Turner said of their brief breakup. “For a second we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both like, ‘Never mind.'
As for now, the couple is stronger than ever. They became married in a surprise wedding ceremony in Las Vegas shortly after attending the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1.
The pair, who got engaged in October 2016, has planned to tie the knot again with a lavish ceremony across the pond in summer.
