Mary Lloyd joined Jesus College, Oxford, where she later worked for a post-graduate B.Litt. degree in Celtic Studies; however, she left the college without graduation. She completed meteorology qualifications from the Met Office College.
Mary Lloyd began her career as a researcher for the BBC Wales Today, a nightly news programme. Later she became an announcer at Welsh-language British public-service TV channel, S4C. During the premiere of the movie, The Avengers, she wore a skin-tight black catsuit, which earned her a prize of best costume. The movie was directed by Jeremiah S.
