The group released their single, Butterfly. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, prompting sales of their debut album, The Gift of Game, to exceed 1.5 million. Their debut album gave them lots of fame and money however, their 2002 follow-up album, Darkhorse was a commercial failure by comparison, and the band broke up shortly after its release.

Released his own debut solo album
Binzer started his solo career. He released his own debut solo album, Happy Love Sick in 2004. He released two singles from the album: "Slide Along Side" a pan-European hit for Shifty that reached No. 29 in the UK with moderate chart success in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. However, his follow up single, "Turning Me On", did not chart.
Started the group, Shifty and The Big Shots
After spending lots of time in his solo career, in 2010, Binzer fronted the group, Shifty and The Big Shots. This group released their first single, "Save Me", on July 6, 2010, and followed it up with the single "City of Angels".
Spent three months in the California Institution
Shifty is an addict. In 2001, in an interview with Rolling Stone, he admitted that he spent three months in the California Institution for Men following an attempted burglary, to selling and using recreational drugs over a period of several years, as well as to struggling with drug addiction.
Arrested for his immoral activities with his girlfriend
He has been arrested lots of time in his life from his addiction to drugs and his immoral activities. On March 27, 2011, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between Binzer and his girlfriend. He was accused of illegal act and was arrested for outstanding warrants and released later that day.
