Sandra Bullock donates $1M to Harvey relief efforts; Joins Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson and more

The Oscar-winning "The Blind Side" star Sandra Bullock joined a host of Hollywood stars, including, Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Lopez, Kevin Hart, DJ Khaled, The Kardashians and Beyonce to provide relief to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Joining the effort she donated $1 million to charities in Texas to help with relief efforts. Bullock, 53, added $1 million(£774,000) to the American Red Cross' relief fund for its effort in devastated regions of Texas.

The recent storm that devastated Houston, Texas has left 30,000 people homeless, killing 14.

This isn't Bullock's first-time donation as she makes many donations when there's a major disaster in the US.

The American Red Cross acknowledges it's importance and called it an "incredible gift".

Bullock, who owns a home in Austin wants to look above the heated political discourse around the destructive storm and has asked the fellow Americans to help.

"There are no politics in eight feet of water, There are human beings in eight feet of water,"

she says.

Many other generous donations were made by the celebrities. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson have led a star-stuffed challenge to give to the Red Cross and the donations are increasing in number.

Harvey has claimed at least 14 lives and the number is expected to rise.
