It's been two years since Rhea Perlman and Danny DeVito called it quits but the pair are still legally married. However, the Cheers star has no intention of getting a divorce from her estranged husband.
The actress, 71, appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen alongside on Thursday, May 9, Whoopi Goldberg where she explained to the Sister Act star, 63, "We’re separated … but I’m not getting a divorce."
When show host Andy Cohen inquired why Rhea wouldn’t get a divorce, she responded, "What for? We do live separately. But we see each other a lot!"
The actress then explained that her relationship with Danny is better than it was in the last five years of their marital relationship.
It’s much better because all of the tense stuff is gone, it’s not in your face, I’m not in his, he’s not in mine.
Rhea acknowledged there was a transitional period for their children, Lucy, 35, Grace, 34, and Jake, 31, after calling it quits.
Sources initially confirmed the split in October 2012 but they reconciled their relationship later that year. However, the pair parted ways again in March 2017.
Rhea and Danny first met in 1971, when the actress went to see a friend in a stage production of the Shrinking Bride, in which Danny also starred.
The Matilda co-stars married 11 years later in January 1982.
