Born in Detroit.

Ray Parker Jr was born on May 1st, 1954 in Detroit. He was born to his parents; Venolia & Ray Parker and grew up along with his siblings in Detroit. He holds American nationality and belongs to black ethnicity.

1960

Started career as Guitarist,

Ray Parker started his career as a guitarist during late 60's at that time he joined Bohannon's house band at the legendary 20 Grand nightclub which was the starting of his successful career. 

 

1972

Appeared as Guest Guitarist.

In1972, Rayplayed guitar on Stevie Wonder's funk song, "Maybe Your Baby" for the album Talking Book. He was the lead guitarist from Stevie Wonder when Wonder served as the opening act on the Rolling Stone. 

1978

Released his first Solo Song.

In 1978, Ray recorded his first big hit, Jack, and Jill with Arista Records. The song reached 8th positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. And became successful as well by earning million of dollars.

Death of his Parents.

In 1992, Parker lost his father because of cancer, at the age of 82. His mother also died due to Alzheimer on 18th December 1993 at the age of 83. Those regular years took some happiness from Parker's life.
