During Rizzo was in high school, his friend's revolutionary idea to perform in local talent show really worth a lot. While performing together, they were able to draw the attention of local musician, songwriter, and producer. After an audition, Maurice Starr who wanted to bring the fresh talent signed them and named them as "New Edition" as they were the new edition of the Jackson 5.
Maurice signed them to his independent Streetwise Records label adding the fifth member of the group. They debut their first album, "Candy Girl" in 1983. The album with the teen-oriented hit single songs, "Popcorn Love", "Is This the End" became a big hit.
After a short interval of time, While they were at the height of success, New Edition group dispute over money which made the group to drop Starr's management and his record label. Then they signed with major label MCA Records through which they released their second album, "New Edition".
Beside New Edition, all the members released their own solo albums. Tresvant's soft, smooth, approachable vocal won the heart of millions of people and his self-titled solo song was released in 1990. His songs, "Do What I Gotta Do" and "Stone Cold Gentleman" became a big hit and his song "Sensitivity" was listed No. 1 on the U.S. R&B Singles chart.
Moreover, New Edition had also released their album "All For Love", "Under the Blue Moon", "Heart Break", "Home Again", "One Love" whereas Ralph also released his solo album "Ralph Tresvant", "It's Goin' Down", "Rizz-Wa-Faire" and "TBA" was almost every album of New Edition, as well as Ralph, were successfully hit.
Additionally, Ralph Tresvant also featured in several Hollywood movies. He had featured in Knight Rider, Krush Groove, House Party 2 as New Edition. He had also featured in "Barbershop Blues" as Jake, "Triple Cross" as Sonny, "Get On Up" as Sam Cooke and much more.
Moving towards his personal life, Ralph Tresvant married twice till now. Firstly, he married his childhood girlfriend, Shelly in 1993. The couple gave birth to two daughters, Mariah & Na'Quelle and a son, Ralph Tresvant Jr. Just after three years of marital relationship, the couple divorced.
Later, Rizzo married to Amber Serrano in 2004. The couple has a son, Dakari Tresvant. Ralph and Amber are living together along with their children and there are no any rumors of their divorce.
