Multi-talented lady, Phylicia Rashad was born as Phylicia Ayers-Allen on June 19, 1948, in Houston, Texas, the United States of America, to Vivian Allen and Andrew Arthur Allen Sr. She was also raised in Mexico.

Phylicia was born and raised in an upper-class family. After her high school graduation, she joined Howard University with a major in Fine Arts. She finally earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from there in 1970. She also attended Carnegie Mellon University.
