Peter Tork, The Monkees Bassist and Singer, Dies At Age 77

Peter Tork, a singer and bassist for The Monkees band, died on Thursday, February 21, from unknown causes. He was 77.

His sister Anne Thorkelson confirmed his passing to the Washington Post. The affable musician played with the rock band in the '60s. The group recently had reunion tours.

Thorkelson family also shared a Facebook post on the late musicians account to confirm Peter's death by sharing a lengthy statement.

Shortly after his death news emerged, multiple stars and fans took to social media sites to pay tribute to the late songster.

His bandmate, Michael Nesmith, wrote on Thursday, February 21, "Just got the news that Peter died. I am heartbroken."

Funeral and memorial services for the late The Monkees member will be announced in the coming days. Rest In Peace Peter Tork!
