Paula Patton was born in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Joyce is a school teacher whereas her father Charles Patton is a lawyer. Her father is African-American and mother is Caucasian. She completed her high school from Hamilton High School and later started studying in University of California, Berkeley. Later, she transferred to University of Southern California’s Film School.
Patton has also provided her vocals for Usher in her album Confessions in 2004. She has provided her astonishing voice on the song ‘Can U Handle It?’ The song was written by Robin Thicke to whom Paula once got married. Patton has written the song for several Robin Thicke's album.
Talking about her television career, Patton made her debut movie in the comedy film ‘Hitch’ back in 2005 featuring alongside other famous actors like Eva Mendes and Will Smith. In 2006, she appeared in the musical film ‘Idlewild,’ which was directed and written by Bryan Barber. The film also featured OutKast members: Andre Benjamin and Big Boi.
She started getting offers for lead roles from 2006. In the year, she played a lead role of Claire Kuchever in the movie ‘Déjà vu,’ which was a science fiction thriller. The movie went great at the box office. Again, in the same year, she appeared in a video of the song ‘Lost Without You’ with her then-husband Robin Thicke. Thicke wrote the song for her. Later, in 2008, she played as a television reporter in a comedy-drama ‘Swing Vote.'
In 2011, she again played a lead role in another comedy film, ‘Jumping the Broom.' Similarly, in 2013, Patton played in an action comedy film ‘2 Guns’ and in 2016 she played in another romantic comedy ‘The Perfect Match.' Paula has played in several comedy movies till date. Talking about her recent movie, recently in January 2017, she played another lead role in ABC drama series named ‘Somewhere Between.' The show premiered on July 24.
Talking about her personal life, she was once married to an American singer Robin Thicke. The couple started dating since October 1993 and after dating couple of months, they got engaged and got married on 11th June 2005. The couple stayed together for 11 years and divorced officially on 16th April 2015. The couple has a son Julian Fuego, who was born on 6th April 2010.
One of the movies Paula played Déjà vu’ grossed over $180 million worldwide. And another movie ‘Jumping the Broom’ grossed over $37 million opposing $6 million budget.
