Paul Gigot was born Paul Anthony Gigot on May 24, 1955, in San Antonio, Texas, the United States. He along with his family moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, and spent his childhood there only.   

As Paul is Roman Catholic by religion, he studied in Catholic schools for 12 years. In 1973, he graduated from Abbot Pennings High School.

Later, he attended Dartmouth College and graduated summa cum laude in 1997. He even wrote for and later edited the school paper, the school paper, The Dartmouth.

Professional Career

Journalist Paul Gigot wrote the column, Potomac Watch for 14 long years. After that, in 1980, he started his professional journey at the Journal and worked as a reporter covering Chicago, Illinois. 

After a couple of years, Gigot was the paper's Asia correspondent in Hong Kong. Eventually, there he became in charge of The Wall Street Journal Asia in 1984. He then worked under then-President President Ronald Reagan as a White House Fellow between 1986 to 1987.

Additionally, the political analyst appeared as a regular guest opposite Mark Shields on the daily evening TV news program, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer during the 1990s. In 2001, he became The Wall Street Journal's editorial-page editor after winning a Pulitzer Prize for his weekly Potomac Watch column.
