A patient of age 64 shot himself with a pistol at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church in Virginia, refused to surrender the weapon, and eventually died in the hospital room.
He wasn't immediately killed after shooting himself but he died after being taken for medical treatment. Police officers, who first responded to the scene, reportedly took him for treatment.
It's unknown how the man had obtained the gun, or why he began brandishing it. The incident reportedly occurred at around 8:45 p.m. but the patient died at approx. 10:50.

According to Washington's FOX 5 report, as soon as police officers arrived at the scene, they managed to contain the patient to one room until the authorities could control the situation.
The man was on the fourth floor of the Inova Fairfax Hospital, which one of the largest hospitals in northern Virginia.
Police told the Washington Post, the man had refused to surrender and didn't comply with police officers’ commands.
