Police Officer shot in South Los Angeles Reported to be Stable

A Los Angeles officer was shot on Saturday night 19th April 2019, in South Los Angeles.

The Police officer was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent major surgery.

As per the report by LAPD spokesman Josh Rubenstein, the officer is now in stable condition.

One suspect was also shot in the course of gunfire.

The condition of that suspect is currently unknown.

There is also a second suspect on the run who is believed to be armed.

Police officers from the Newton area mob division were conducting a traffic check in the 51st Street and in Long Beach Avenue after 9 p.m. (local time).

Officers chased 2 people who started fleeing after abandoning the vehicle.

As per the report by LAPD, during the foot pursuit, there was a shooting.

Meghan Aguilar of the LAPD Division said,

One suspect was struck by gunfire and unfortunately we also had an officer who was struck by gunfire. He has also been transported to a local hospital where he is in surgery. We have recovered one firearm and we have an outstanding suspect that we believe to be armed, 

Police set up a large search around the premises, starting from Compton to Alameda and from Vernon to Slauson.
