Nurse Adopts Baby Girl After Parents Didn't Visit Her in Hospital for 5 Months

A nurse, namely Liz Smith, adopted a baby girl whose parents didn't come to visit her at the hospital for five months.

Smith, who is the director of nursing at the Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, Massachusetts, told Today that she stepped in to help and fulfilled her dream to become a mother.

After going through a breakup, in 2016, she tried other methods to get pregnant, including in sperm donation and vitro fertilization, but nothing worked and she started losing hope.

Of becoming a parent, she told the station, "Becoming a nurse was easy, but becoming a mom was not." She added, "I put it in the back of my mind and got busy with work as I always do."

But shortly after she joined Franciscan Children’s in Boston, she met a young patient who was seeking help.

Smith said,

I came out of the medical unit one day and in the stroller was this beautiful little girl. I said to the nurse, ‘Who is this beautiful little angel?'

The baby girl, whose name is Gisele, was being placed into foster care when her parents didn't come to visit her at the hospital.

After this, Smith decided to give the baby love and affection.
