Nipsey Hussle Was One of 26 People to Get Shot in L.A. Over Last Week

The killing of Nipsey Hussle on Sunday, March 31, generated widespread mourning, outrage and international headlines and the Los Angeles Police Department has just confirmed that the rapper was one of the 36 victims of the shootings occurred in the city over last week.

LAPD police chief Michel Moore took to Twitter and shared that 26 people were wounded and 10 were killed in the shootings occurred in the span of a week, writing, "That's 36 families left picking up the pieces."

Another LAPD officer Mike Lopez told CNN affiliate KTLA that Hussle was shot and killed in the same week when brothers Justin Montes, 25, Jason Montes, 24, were shot to death while standing on a sidewalk in the city.

A mile away, a 38-year-old man, who was walking home, was approached by a gunman and got shot, according to the news station.

The station further reported that those shootings followed a woman, who was in her later 30s, to be killed in a shooting in her Leimert Park home.

Hussle and two other men were shot outside his clothing store in South Los Angeles at approx. 3:20 p.m. Sunday. The rapper died but the other two victims were rushed to the hospital where they are now doing well.
