Illinois Man Arrested For Killing and Dismembering a Boy, 2

An Illinois man, Kamel Harris, 44, was arrested after being accused of killing and dismembering a 2-year-old boy. The suspect went on trial on Tuesday, May 14.

The man allegedly killed the child - identified as Kyrian Knox, from Rockford, Illinois - in August 2015.

Some of the remains of the victim were found in September 2015 in the Garfield Park lagoon in Chicago. Kamel was taken into custody in relation to the death of the child in 2016.

Kamel has been charged with first-degree murder, dismemberment of a human being and concealment of a homicidal death.

According to The Chicago Tribune report, prosecutors claimed in the first day of the week-long trial that the suspect "snapped" and killed Kyrian.

As per the report, he was sent over the edge by the boy crying for hours after he was given milk. The child was lactose intolerant.

Kamel allegedly brought the body of the boy to Chicago before dismembering him and put the parts in plastic bags that he later put in the lagoon.

Kyrian's feet, hands and head were discovered in the lagoon in 2015. The rest of his body was never found. Prosecutors don’t have DNA or fingerprint evidence to link Kamel to the murder.
