Two big reasons to celebrate! Glenn Weiss won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Director for a Variety Special for the Oscars and after taking the award, the director, 57, got down on one knee becoming engaged to Jan Svendsen.
At the ceremony, while giving his acceptance speech reflecting on his late mother who died just two weeks ago, the filmmaker ultimately went on to share a happier message, proposing his loving girlfriend for marriage.
He said, "Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life. And mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine."
He added, "You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife."
The audience was not believing what was happening and they looked as shocked as Svendsen was, but the star-studded audience immediately gave a round of applause.
Here's the video of the amazing moment, Enjoy Watching!
When Svendsen got up from her seat to approach the stage, Weiss offered her a ring. He said, "This is the ring that my dad put on my mom's finger 67 years ago."
He then joked, "To my brothers and sisters, I didn't swipe it. Dad knows I have it, OK?"
Getting down on one knee, he asked, "Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?"
His lady instantly nodded a hearty yes; Weiss then offered a final "thank you to the Academy!"
Congratulations Weiss and Svendsen!
