Everybody Plays The Fool Singer, Cuba Gooding Sr. No More, Found Dead in His Car

The lead singer for soul group the Main Ingredient and the father of actor Cuba Gooding Jr., Cuba Gooding, Sr. has died at the age of 72, ABC reported.

The actor who was about to turn 73 next week was reportedly found dead in his car in Los Angeles.

As per reports, the singer was found slumped over inside his car in Woodland Hills, Calif. at 12:58 pm. PT on Thursday but could not be resuscitated by CPR. A spokesperson from Los Angeles Fire Department could not confirm Gooding Sr's identity, however, they confirmed to the variety that they responded to a call on Ventura BLVD. and also determined the death of an adult man.

Gooding who was born on April 27, 1944, previously worked as a backing singer on some recordings for the Main Ingredient, however, after the death of former lead singer Donald McPherson, he became the lead singer of the band.

The group has given several hits, including their highest-charting 1972's hit like "Everybody Plays the Fool," "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely," "Happiness is Just Around the Bend" and "Rolling Down a Mountainside."
