9 Teens Arrested After Crowd Closed in on Deputies at Youth Basketball Tournament in Washington

Nine teens were arrested on Friday, March 15, for a disturbance at a youth basketball tournament in Washington state after 70 teenagers closed in around three deputies, authorities have confirmed.

According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, deputies from 33 law enforcement units responded to the scene after being informed about the disturbance at Gaiser Middle School in Vancouver. approx. at 5:40 p.m.

The sheriff's office said in a statement,

Three deputies arrived on scene and were immediately met with verbal hostilities from the large group of teenagers, to include racial slurs, cursing, and threats of assault.

The statement said, more than teenagers began to "close in" on the deputies as they attempted to address a specific individual.

According to FOX 12 Oregon report, the teens began cursing the deputies and threatened violence against them. They even threated the deputies to kill them.

More law enforcement units were called on the scene but the youths remained disruptive and were challenging police officers and school officials. Authorities arrested those who didn't comply with orders to leave the premises.

The nine teens were taken into custody and charged with trespass, assault, disorderly conduct,  failure to disperse and resisting arrest.

As per the report, one deputy got minor injuries as he was struggling with suspects during the arrest.
