After finishing their meeting Otto accepted an invitation to work for Fox in Los Angeles. He even got his first assignment which was to direct a vehicle for Lawrence Tibbett.
Otto worked hard for completing the film well within the range of budget and to make well before the scheduled shooting deadline. In November 1936, the film opened to tepid notices.
American producer Zanuck gave Otto another task of directing B-picture comedy, romance film Danger-Love at Work. The film got released on 30 September 1937 with cast Simone Simon but later she got fired by Zanuck and Ann Sothern got her position.
