Orlando Jones is an American comedian and actor known for his roles in movies like Sour Grapes, Office Space, Drumline, Seconds Apart, The Book of Love. He was the original cast members of MADtv.
Orlando was born on April 10, 1968, in Toulminville, Alabama. Orlando in his teenage moved to Mauldin, South Carolina, and graduated from Mauldin High School in 1985. He then attended College of Charleston, South Carolina, however, he couldn't finish his degree.
Interested in comedy and entertainment industry, Jones formed a production company named Homeboy’s Productions and advertising with comedian Michael Fechter. They worked on several projects, one of them being a McDonald’s commercial with Michael Jordan.
In 1987, Orlando got his first job in Hollywood as a writer for the NBC comedy A Different World. In 1993, Jones co-produced The Sinbad Show. He also appeared in Herman’s Head in 1992.
In 1994, Jones became one of the original nine cast members of MADtv after hosting Fox’s music series Sound FX. In the 1st and 2nd season of MADtv, he produced characters like the Cabana Chat band leader Dexter St. Croix and Reverend LaMont Nixon Fatback.
Jones gained wide recognition in 2000 after he became the spokesperson for 7 Up. He then hosted HBO First Look special in 2000. Later, Jones got his own talk show The Orlando Jones Show, however, the show wasn’t aired for a long time.
In 2008, Jones made an appearance in New Amsterdam as Harold Wilcox, a violent veteran with PTSD. In 2009, he was cast as Marcus Foreman, Eric Foreman’s brother in House.
Jones was also hired as a principal actor in the FOX television series Sleepy Hollow in 2013. In 2016, he was cast in American Gods as Mr. Nancy.
Expanding his film career, he appeared in his first big screen film In Harm’s Way (1997). Jones has also made his appearance in Sour Grapes (1997), Woo (1998), Liberty Heights (1999), Magnolia (1999).
Jones also starred in the horror film From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter (2003). In 2001, Jones appeared alongside Eddie Griffin in the action-dramedy Double Take (2001). Jones recent films include Biker Boyz (2003), Godzilla (2005), Runaway Jury (2003), The Time Machine (2002).
In 2013, Jones appeared in Enemies Closer as Clay alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tom Everett Scott, Linzey Cocker, and Zahary Baharov.
In 2016, he appeared in The Book of love where he portrayed the role of Cornelius ‘Dumbass’ Thibadeaux.
Jones has been featured in many voice acting projects over the past years. He voiced the TV series Father of the Pride and the video games Halo 2 as the marine Sergeant Banks. He also voice-acted for the MTV2 animated series The Adventures of Chico and Guapo, which he also co-created and produced.
Jones is married to model Jacqueline Staph. The pair got married in 2009 and has a daughter together. The couple seems to be living a happy married life.
