An Oklahoma man, namely Rodney Puckett, 70, was arrested on Monday, May 13, after police pulled over him in Arizona with the body of his wife buckled in the passenger seat, authorities have confirmed.
Police said in a statement that the husband was stopped for a traffic violation along Interstate 10 in Eloy city when the detective noticed the woman who was sitting in the seat next to him was dead.
His was identified as Linda Puckett, 74. The man told the officials that his wife died at a Texas hotel during their trip.
Police said, "He moved her body into their vehicle, continuing towards their destination."
It's not clear how long the suspect had been traveling with Linda. The intended destination was also not disclosed.
The dead body was sent to the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office. Detectives are investigating the case to determine if her death was a homicide.
Rodney was being held at the Pinal County Jail. He has been charged with abandonment or concealment of a body. He could face additional charges, police said.
