Jacinda Ardern and Clarke Gayford are set to marry! Yes, you read that right! The New Zealand prime minister and her longtime boyfriend have got engaged.

Their engagement was confirmed by a spokesman for the prime minister on Friday, April 3.

Sources reported that Jacinda was spotted wearing a diamond ring while attending a ceremony on Friday. However, the ring reportedly was on her middle finger.

BBC asked Jacinda, 38, last year if she could imagine a proposal from Clarke, 41, and the New Zeland PM replied that she wanted to "put him through the pain and torture of having to agonise about that question himself."

The couple first met at an awards event in 2012. Last year, they welcomed their first child, a baby girl, together. She had given birth while in office.

The pair have named their daughter Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford; she will turn one year old next month.

Congratulations Jacinda and Clarke. We are eagerly waiting to watch your wedding.
