Nathaniel Taylor, the actor widely known for portraying Rollo Lawson on 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son, died on February 27 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
His death was confirmed by his friend, music promoter Alonzo Williams. The exact cause of death of the actor has not been revealed but Williams said he was taken to hospital on February 23 after suffering a heart attack.
Nathaniel only used to give small guest appearances on television shows, including The Bold Ones and The Bill Cosby Show, in the early ’70s.
However, he rose to fame after playing smooth-talking sidekick Rollo Lawson on Sanford and Son. The sitcom ran from 1972 to 1977. His other television credits include Harry O and Adam-12.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Taylor; six kids, daughters Laronda, Donna, Natalie and Cheryl; sons Kaedi, Jamaal and Nate Jr.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary and Betty; one brother, Eugene.
A memorial service for the late Sanford and Son star will be announced in the coming days. Rest In Peace Nathaniel Taylor!
