Mom Takes Arrow to Face While Protecting Son, Drives Self to Hospital

An Arkansas mom, namely Janet Partain, was hit in the face with a crossbow arrow by a man who was allegedly stealing her property.

The woman said she was confronting Joseph Avellino, 34, at his home in Wynne, Arkansas on Monday, February 11.

After an argument escalated, he fired a crossbow arrow at her son, 14, and nephew, 15, who were with her.

As per the report, Janet was pierced in the face after she pushed the teens out of the fire line. She told WREG-TV, "I think I was in shock because once I got hit, I said, ‘I can’t believe you almost shot that kid".

Already left for the hospital when local authorities arrived at the suspect's home at approx. around 6:20 p.m.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports, the arrow pierced the left side of her face, protruding out the back of her head.

According to a statement released by the Cross County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph was arrested on first-degree battery and charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

He was reportedly being held at Cross County Jail. The arrow was removed from Janet's face and she remained in the hospital till Tuesday.
