The boyfriend of a woman, whose daughter of age 9 was discovered dead in a duffel bag in Los Angeles, was charged with her killing on Tuesday, March 12, authorities have confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Emiel Hunt, 38, is scheduled to be arraigned on one count of murder in court.
According to a criminal complaint, the suspect is accused of killing the Trinity Love Jones, 9, around March 1.
The girl's body was found on March 5. The dead body was in a duffel bag on the way of a Hacienda Heights equestrian trail. County workers uncovered the young girl's remains by using some brush.
The sheriff's department released a composite sketch of the 9-year-old and photos of pink long-sleeve top and gray pants that she was wearing when she was found dead.
In a news conference, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said,
It's a sad moment for the department, for the community, and we're going to do our best to figure out what led to the suspicious death of the child involved. I've directed the investigators to spare no effort to find out what happened.
Family members created a memorial of candles, balloons, flowers, stuffed animals and photos near where Trinity was found.
Trinity's father, Anthony Jones, told FOX11,
Words can't explain what I'm feeling right now. I just want answers. I just want justice. She was just the best -- full of character, full of life, full of joy.
Jones said he learned of his youngest daughter's death through a telephone call.
Trinity's mother, Taquesta Graham, was also arrested on an unrelated warrant. Graham's bail was set at $2 million.
