Later, Michael began playing for Boston Bruins and made a contract with the club as a free agent. He also worked as the club's representative with the NHL Players' Association and was outspoken on numerous controversial issues, notably the role of Alan Eagleson.

However, the couple was unable to continue their married life and they divorced. He also married his wife Debbie Milbury.
