Mike Maroney, the father of Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney, has died at the age of 59. He was his daughter's biggest supporter.
The Olympic gold medalist, 23, took to Instagram on Tuesday, January 15, to share the tragic news about her dad's passing, with sharing two emotional tributes on social media, one on Twitter and another on Instagram.
She tweeted, "Love u dad. I can't believe it's real. I don't want to. I'll miss you forever. Rest in peace. You were the most incredible dad."
And through the posts, the sports star explained her father impact on her life and how much she will miss him.

Dad you taught me everything from how to walk to how to be a man and for that I thank you. The cause of death has not immediately been disclosed.
Mike's passing comes nearly one year after her Olympian daughter came forward to reveal that she was sexually abused by USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar.
McKayla reportedly signed a confidential $1.25 million settlement agreement in late 2016 so she would quiet about the sexual misconduct.
