Michigan University Student, Who Was Missing, Found Dead After 3-Day Search

The body of a student, namely Guiancarlo Estupigan, 25, from Northern Michigan University who was missing since Thursday, January 24, was found Sunday, January 27, near a river by a group of volunteers assisting authorities.

As per the report, the 25-year-old fish and wildlife major told his roommate on Jan. 24 that he was going on a hike at Yellow Dog River in Powell, Michigan in order to take some nature photos.

He didn't return home till Friday and after his roommate found his car covered in snow near the river, he alerted the police.

Authorities and volunteers launched a search-and-rescue effort. Guiancarlo's body was found at approx. 4:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. He was reportedly found about 300 feet from County Road 510.

No foul play were suspected by the authorities. According to WLUC report, they believe the victim became lost and disoriented during a snowstorm on Thursday.

An autopsy is being held at the Marquette County Medical Examiner.
