A Michigan boy of age 9 was arrested and charged with murder after he shot and killed his mom, according to the court documents obtained.

The documents were filed on Tuesday, May 7, in St. Joseph County Circuit Court and the papers state that the boy is also charged with "using a firearm during the commission of a felony."

As per the report, the woman was shot with a rifle. Her son underwent a psychiatric evaluation at a state-run juvenile facility.

Prosecutor John McDonough told WWMT-TV, the mother was found dead on Monday, May 6, in Fawn River Township.

It's unclear if the boy has been charged as an adult or juvenile. No details about the killing were immediately released.

The boy has a history of outbursts. A woman, Alecia Pieronski, told the news station that the boy threatened to stab her daughter, 8, to death last year.

Alecia says she told the principal of their elementary school about the incident but they did nothing.

Alecia said,

My want was to remove him from the school and protect the children. I do feel in my whole heart the teachers and principals did everything they could do.

Arthur Ebert, the Sturgis Public Schools Superintendent, released a statement without mentioning the child.

He said,

As a district it is our goal to provide support to our students, staff, and the community. We are limited in what we can share due to privacy laws and the sensitive nature of this tragedy.
