Michelle Williams and Husband Phil Elverum Splits Less Than A Year After Secret Wedding

It’s all over for Michelle Williams and Phil Elverum! The Golden Globe winner and the songwriter have split after less than one year of their marriage, multiple sources have confirmed.

The breakup news comes shortly after the actress was seen not wearing a wedding band during her two recent public outings.

The Dawson’s Creek star, 38, surprised fans in July 2018, revealing to Vanity Fair that she and the visual artist, 40, had secretly exchanged vows in front of their respective children and friends in the Adirondacks.

She told Vanity Fair at the time,

Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.

The actress also told the outlet that she "never gave up on love" following her late husband's untimely death in 2008.

Michelle is the mom of a 13-year-old daughter, Matilda Ledger, who she shared with late actor Heath Ledger. He died of cardiac arrest on January 22, 2008.

Phil, meanwhile, is a dad to a 4-year-old daughter, Agathe Elverum, who he shared with his late wife, Geneviéve Castrée. She passed away from pancreatic cancer in July 2016.
