Maroney, who was 15 at the time, said her coach didn't say anything in response while others in the car gasped loudly.

Maroney also said she made her mind to speak up about the car ride in Tokyo because she was desperate.

I didn’t feel like it was him anymore. It was this other thing that took over ? the dark part of him. ... He went like overboard that night I was bawling, naked, on a bed, him on top of me. And I thought I was going to die.

Maroney said of the incident.

For the first time, to me, [it] was very, very hard for me to not acknowledge the fact that this was something ? this was not treatment. I was being abused. I remember waking up the next day and wanting to tell someone.

Geddert worked in the gymnastics world for two decades until he was suspended by USA Gymnastics in January 2018 in the light of the allegations against Nassar. Nassar and Geddert were reportedly very close.

While Nassar has been accused of sexual harassment over 260 young athletes. He has been pleaded guilty to several of those abuses and is serving three concurrent prison sentences of up to 175 years.
