Marcel Hirscher was born on March 2, 1989, in Hallein, Salzburg to father Ferdinand Hirscher and mother Sylvia Hirscher. He is an Austrian by nationality and belongs to Caucasian ethnic background.
As his parents worked at a local ski school near Annaberg in Austria, he received many opportunities to ski on his own. He was two and a half when he first skied. After watching him skiing for the first time, his father said he had seen thousands of kids on the slopes for the first time but had never seen one before me who could turn without falling.
His father played a significant role in his career and is still part of his support team. Like a Supervisor, his father guided him from the set-up skills to different other skiing skills.

Marcel Hirscher's career started in early 2010, at the 2010 Winter Olympics where he was placed fourth in the giant slalom. Similarly, he ranked fourth in the giant slalom at the 2009 World Championships but broke his ankle a week before the 2011 World Championships ending his 2011 season.
After recovering from the injury, he had an outstanding season in 2012, with 9 victories and a total of 14 podiums. The same year in October, the International Association of Ski Journalists honored him the Skieur d’Or Award for his all over performances during the previous season.
The following year, Hirscher won the overall World title for the second time with 6 victories, also winning the slalom title as well as runner-up in the giant slalom.
With his outstanding performances, unique skills, in overall games, he became the most successful male World Cup GS skier in Austria by winning in Beaver Creek, Colorado in 2016.
Similarly, on December 17, 2017, he won the giant slalom race in Alta Badia, which was also his fifth consecutive victory in that place. Likewise, he became Austria’s most prolific World Cup race winner after winning a slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in his native of Salzburg.
On January 13, 2019, he won the slalom race in Adelboden celebrating a 9th World Cup victory and a 16th podium, a record among male athletes at a single resort.
