The man who reported the missing of a 4-year-old Maleah Davis last week has been arrested near Houston because of his connection in the disappearance of the girl. Police have reported the traces of blood, which police presumes to be of the girl, in his apartment.

The man, Derion Vence, was taken under custody on Saturday at the house of his brother in Sugar Land, Texas, almost around 22 miles in the Southwest of Houston, Houston police reported. In the court document, he has been accused and charged with tampering with a human corpse.

Concerning if Vence is the murderer of Maleah, the spokesman of the Houston police Kese Smith said,

At this point in time those are the charges we have filed and I can't say any more than that.

Prior to his arrest, Vence mentioned that he along with Maleah and his 2-year-old son were all abducted in a pickup truck before the abductors released him and his son.

However, the police, who interviewed Vence all the while during the investigation stated that his story kept changing and didn't add up. Houston police even stated that some of his claims were completely baseless.

In the investigation, police found that the silver Nissan Altima that, according to Vence, was used for the abduction instead drove him to the hospital as per the surveillance camera.

Talking of the same Smith, said,

His story turned out not to be the case, including the fact that there was that blood evidence in the apartment linked to Maleah

Police have concluded Vence as Maleah's stepfather, and but the further investigation on the case is in the process.
