Lynyrd Skynyrd member Ed King dies; He was 68

The Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King dies after a long battle with cancer at the age of 68 on Wednesday, August 22

The guitarist died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee according to the Facebook post posted on his personal profile.

Ed's Facebook post read that it was sorrowful to announce Ed King's passing. This also showed the affection towards his fans and friends for all of their love and support. 

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Ed King who died at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on August 22nd, 2018. 

We thanks his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career. 

Following his demise, tributes started pouring in through social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter.

His former band, Lynyrd Skynyrd also took to Twitter to pay tribute to their former member. Gary Rossington found out late about the passing of the guitarist and was really shocked and saddened. 

Ed was out brother, and a great Songwriter and Guitar player. I know he will be reunited with the rest of the boys in Rock & Roll Heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and his family. 

The country music singer Charlie Daniels also talked about the demise of Ed and paid tribute to his family.

The star has been out of his rock band since 1996. The California native had been the founding member of his previous band Strawberry Alarm Clock. He had only signed with the Skynyrd Lynyrd on 1972 to replace bassist Leon Wilkeson before becoming a permanent member.

The guitarist cum songwriter has been in the band's albums such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Second Helping, and Nuthin' Fancy. He is also the songwriter of the famed, Sweet Home Alabama

Ed was suffering from cancer so, the reason for his death might be the same. Back in 1996, he also suffered from congestive heart failure. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006
