Lin received her formal education from Taipei Municipal Zhongzheng Junior High School. She also got enrolled at Bishop Strachan School. With the completion of her secondary education, she joined University of Toronto. There she majored in Western art history and economics. She finally earned her bachelor’s degree in 1997. While she was in Taipei Municipal Zhongzheng Junior High School, she was discovered by Lin Chien-huan. Lin Chien-huan is a modeling agent and she was just 15 when Chien-huan discovered her. After she came back from Toronto, Canada, she joined Taipei Fine Arts Museum. Later on she continued her modeling career. She also worked at Fubon Cultural and Educational Foundation for several years as an administrative assistant. In 2000, she modeled for Catwalk Production House and in 2002; she began modeling in Hong Kong in several TV ads. This raised her popularity and she became the most searched woman in the Internet in China. She was offered the post of host in the Shanghai Oriental Television and from 2004 she began appearing in several TV series. She made her feature film debut in 2008 by starring the role of Xiao Qiao in the movie Red Cliff: Part 1. She has been earning lucrative amount of salary annually and her net worth is said to be around $45 million dollars.
