The Los Angeles Police Department has apologized for wrongly reporting the death of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame singer Tom Petty.

Tom was found in full cardiac arrest in his home in Malibu, California on Sunday and rushed to the hospital before being taken off life support, but according to his family, he remained alive with no brain function on.

Previously, the information obtained officially from the LAPD about the death of Tom Petty and now they apologize for their false report of Tom's death telling that it was not in a position to confirm information about the singer an through a couple of tweets.

The apology came after tests confirmed on Monday morning that the Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers lead singer had no brain function- hours after he suffered a devastating cardiac arrest.

As firstly reported by TMZ, the Veteran star had been found unconscious and not breathing at his Malibu home on Sunday night and after the false report of Tom's death began to circulate, his daughter Annakim Violette Petty took her Instagram and blast the media in profanity-laden posts.
